God Is Bigger than Your Hills and Valleys

Below is my bulletin article for the people at Eastside this morning; I’m posting it here, because it applies to most (if not all) of us. Whoever you are, and wherever you live: life is messy, but God is in control.

I have been thinking a lot this week about change. This church is about to experience a transition in leadership. That will bring changes. My family is about to relocate to another state. That will bring changes. We pray that new people will be added to the church in coming months. That too will bring changes. Unfortunately, our human nature is such that even good changes can be overwhelming. But we can have the peace of knowing that we are secure, trusting in a God Who never changes. He is still the same God Who created the universe, parted the Red Sea, and raised His Son from the dead. He knows, sees, and can handle every change we encounter. As James wrote, with God there is “no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17).
